The release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day at the box office has triggered a massive resurgence for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, driving a player count increase of more than 300 percent on Steam. Despite releasing nearly three years ago on console and maintaining a steady post-launch player base on PC, Insomniac Games' single-player title has jumped back into the top ten global best-sellers chart on Steam.

The surge has elevated the open-world superhero game to the sixth spot on Steam's top-sellers list, ranking alongside major multiplayer titles like Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and Cyberpunk 2077. Concurrent active users on Steam climbed from a typical baseline of 3,000 players to a new yearly peak exceeding 13,000 players. Analysts indicate that similar demand is likely taking place on PlayStation 5, where the majority of the player base resides.

Developer Insomniac Games helped fuel the momentum by releasing a new update featuring two extra suits. Players can now equip an outfit based on Tom Holland's suit in Spider-Man: Brand New Day alongside a suit inspired by Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. As the film continues its record-breaking theatrical run, player engagement across the game's web-swinging adventure is expected to remain high.
