Epic Games has introduced a new lineup of Gem Sprites to Fortnite as part of a week filled with special events centered on collecting and upgrading companion creatures. Sprites returned to the game during Chapter 7 Season 3 as battlefield companions that provide passive advantages during matches. Players can secure a Sprite by bringing it to an Extraction Site, which permanently adds the creature to their personal collection. Players can then spend Sprite Dust to summon the creature in future matches. Leveling up a Sprite increases the power of its passive ability, improves its loot drops, and grants extra progression through eliminations and surviving Storm phases.

The official Fortnite social media account revealed the full event schedule on August 2, 2026. The week kicked off with Mastery Monday on August 3, offering increased appearance rates for Legendary and Mythic Sprites alongside double leveling speed and double Sprite Dust. Peely Hours followed on August 4 and August 5 with boosted spawn rates for specific Sprite variants. On August 6, New Sprite Day officially introduced seven new Gem Sprites into the game:

- Gem Water- Gem Earth- Gem Demon- Gem Duck- Gem Aura- Gem Zero Point- Gem Grim

Combined with the Gem Llama Sprite that arrived on July 30, players can now collect eight total Gem variants. While early reports suggested a Gem Punk variant might appear, that version is not included in the final release. Beyond their shiny crystalline appearance, Gem Sprites grant a practical gameplay bonus by reducing fall damage by 30 percent, helping players safely navigate high terrain or make quick escapes from elevated structures.

Finding each Gem Sprite depends on specific locations and chest types across the map. Gem Water spawns near harbors and shorelines, Gem Earth appears in forested areas, and Gem Aura favors high mountain terrain. Gem Duck can be found inside the Mogul Vault, while Gem Demon, Gem Grim, and Gem Zero Point are tied to Sprite Chests, with Gem Zero Point also appearing inside Relic Chests. Players will get another opportunity to search for these rare spawns during the upcoming Gem Hours event on Saturday, August 8.
