Meet the Four Heroes Driving the Adventure 

Nintendo has shared new details about Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, confirming that players will be able to experience the campaign through four distinct heroes. Scheduled to launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 17, the title serves as the eighteenth mainline installment in the long-running tactical RPG franchise.

The story unfolds in the Dagdan Empire, where the prestigious Heroic Games tournament grants the winner a single wish. Players can choose to follow the journey of Cai, Dietrich, Theodora, or Leda, with each hero featuring a unique combat style and personal storyline. The appearance of Sothis from Fire Emblem: Three Houses also hints at a possible narrative connection between the two games, though Nintendo has yet to explain how the crossover fits into the broader lore.

Everything Changes After a Five-Year Time Skip 

During the August 4 Nintendo Direct dedicated to the game, Nintendo unveiled several story developments. Five years after the Heroic Games conclude, the Dagdan Empire falls into chaos when the demonic force Balor launches an invasion. At the same time, the four heroes who once competed in the tournament mysteriously disappear.Players will instead control a new, unnamed protagonist distinguished by white hair and a flowing white cloak. Guided by Fortuna, the God of Causality, this character travels back in time to alter history by assisting one of the four heroes during the Heroic Games and preventing the empire's tragic future.

Battle Skills and Meaningful Choices

Each hero comes equipped with exclusive Blaze Arts, powerful techniques capable of turning the tide of battle at the cost of sacrificing some HP. For instance, Dietrich's Moving Shadow ability allows him to teleport three spaces across the battlefield before immediately launching an attack, making it useful for bypassing enemy defenses.

Outside of combat, players will need to carefully manage their time during each in-game day. Activities include recruiting allies, exploring the world map to gain experience, and preparing for upcoming tournament battles. The hero players choose to support will shape the main storyline, while multiple paths within each campaign encourage replayability. Similar to the structure seen in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, every protagonist offers a parallel perspective on the overall narrative.

Collector's Edition Is Loaded with Exclusive GoodiesAlongside the standard digital and physical editions, Nintendo is also offering a premium Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave Dagdan Collection. Priced at $119.99 and currently available for pre-order through the Nintendo Store, the bundle includes a physical Switch 2 game card, a SteelBook case, an art book, collectible art cards, and a detailed map of Dagda. Nintendo has indicated that availability will be limited while supplies last.
