The price of Mist
Mistfall Hunter is a type of game that gives you lots of mixed signals, and the price tag is not a lazy aggregation, it is accurate. On one hand it is locked into tense, responsive combat and a genuinely immersive world. On the other hand it’ s stuck in fighting its imbalance, its server rot and Bellring Games, who keeps stepping on its own goodwill. Both have made their own case.
But I believe the PvPvE loop is behind it all and it is sharp enough to have pulled in soulsborne diehards and extraction junkies at the same time. That’s not nothing.

Darkness and its Godspill
The whole landscape of the game is wrapped in its world, a post-apocalyptic dark type of dream and the overall story centers on a dying world where all the gods have rotten, but left behind the Gyldenmist, a godspill, a suffocating mist.
It drives the remaining population to absolute madness. You will see that some players get resurrected, or a fallen champion summoned back to the mortal realm by a mysterious, blondish girl.
A Story Told Without Saying Anything

“In a world where fate is broken, survival is the only prophecy.”
The desperate struggle
You try to push into a dying civilization as if you have been given a deeply important duty: to venture into dangerous and crumbling ancient ruins to collect all remaining magical power of gods, Gyldenblood. I would not envy you the whole desperate struggle to mend the shattered Web of Fate.
Yet, the overarching story is going to be delivered on a plate of gold, through tragic and mournful dialogues of the lonely survivors who are seeking sanctuary.

Inside the $25 Gyldhunter Loop

Choose Your Map and Squad
The good news is that you won’t have to suffer alone, because the game is designed to be played either solo or in three-player squads. You choose to position onto one of the two main maps: Hallowgrove, which is available for both the solo hunters and trios or if you’re into.
Brandrgrade is your go to, but that strictly requires a trio squad. Regardless of the map you choose, the active loop would still require you to complete both main story quests and random daily investigations.
“We don’t hunt the monsters because we are brave. We hunt them because there is nothing left to lose.”
Death is a must!
Get ready to slay all horrific monsters and secure high-value treasure. The loop could be extremely intense just because death is a must. So, get ready for some heart racing
moments. If you slain in a match and you just literally lose every piece of equipment and treasure you brought in with you, but also it leaves you to restart your whole progression from scratch.

The Rules of the Ring
Your Stamina is Everything
The combat in Mistfall Hunter is insanely tight and highly responsive, so you are literally required to closely track your stamina and carry out precise dodges with perfect timing, just like in traditional Soulsborne fashion. The game has six classes and each one is capable of swapping between two unique weapon stances to adapt to in battlefields.
Like speed, crowd controlling, a stealthy and a very burst-heavy Shadowstrix, and even a long ranged black Arrow archer. So, from the combat point of view, you’re going to enjoy this.

“Every ruin hides a memory. Every memory hides a curse.”

Chasing the Chime
Mechanics kept frustrating me with its balancing issues and looting. Like extracting from the mist requires navigating a highly physical,three-stage mechanic. So, you must first locate and interact with a returning chime on the map, which a very summons a powerful boss in a random nearby location, and only after defeating him, you get it.
His soul, and after taking it, ring it, and it extracts your exact location to every hunter in the lobby. These extractions will collapse into a PvP and rival squads rushing to ambush you right at the finish line.

First come, First looted
It’s also where the game starts working against itself. Shadowstrix dominates solo queue, invisibility, triple dash and even the stun-lock. It’s an overwhelming kit that has no real answer to it at that skill bracket, you get it, it is indeed a skill issue. Sorcerer can effortlessly nuke a fully geared player while running nothing but basic green gear. There is another class that sits at the bottom, consistently losing fights under
equal conditions, and the loot split in trios is first-come, first-served, not divided. Seer players watch greedy teammates vacuum up boss drops and chests before the healer can even reach the bodies. Supporting the team here gets punished by the team’s own loot system. And that, my dear player, is another frustrating issue.
Deluxe but disconnected

death costs you
Mistfall is gorgeous and very oppressive in its art it definitely earns its highs. It has an extraction tension that sharpens, not fades. The solo and trio combination makes it very enjoyable but its technical issues keep dragging the experience down, particularly when connection drops can cost you everything.
Bellring made it worse. Regional servers might be fixed since they locked a lot of store purchases to the original region. So, technically, if you’re server sensitive, you would enjoy the trio version only. If you try to push back or complain you are simply “ungrateful”. Not a response here.

The gods left us their blood. We were foolish enough to believe it would save us.”
