A new physical release of Stardew Valley is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in February 2027, giving fans another opportunity to add the beloved farming sim to their collections.

Since its original release in 2016, Stardew Valley has grown into one of the most successful games in the farming and life simulation genre. Inspired by games such as Harvest Moon, Eric Barone's indie hit has since become a defining title in the genre, inspiring countless games that have followed in its footsteps.

The game originally launched on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One before expanding to Nintendo Switch in 2017. It later arrived on PS Vita and iOS in 2018, Android in 2019, and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2025. The physical version will cost $39 and comes with several extras, including a reversible cover featuring JojaMart and a classic-style game manual.

Despite being designed for Nintendo Switch 2, the cartridge is also playable on the original Nintendo Switch. This makes the release particularly appealing to longtime fans who have not yet made the jump to Nintendo's newer console.

The Switch 2 version itself also includes several improvements over the original Switch release. Local multiplayer has been expanded to support up to four players through split-screen, while online multiplayer can accommodate up to eight players. The game also supports GameShare, allowing players to enjoy multiplayer with only one copy of the game.

Another notable addition is support for the Joy-Con 2's mouse controls. The feature gives players another way to navigate and interact with the game, which could make certain aspects of managing the farm feel more natural.
