Marvel’s Wolverine has officially gone gold, marking a major development milestone for Insomniac Games and putting the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 exclusive on track for its September 15, 2026 release.

Insomniac announced the milestone on August 21, sharing a short video featuring Logan and his golden claws. The studio also confirmed that the Gold Claws shown in the announcement will be available as an unlockable and equipable item within the game.

Going gold means that the main release build has been completed and prepared for the final stages of production and distribution. With more than three weeks remaining before launch, the milestone significantly reduces the likelihood of a delay to Marvel’s Wolverine's planned release date.

Marvel’s Wolverine was first announced in 2021, meaning the project has spent roughly five years in development. The long wait has been accompanied by multiple leaks and the 2023 ransomware attack that exposed early development material from Insomniac.

The game is being positioned as a different experience from Insomniac's Marvel’s Spider Man series. Instead of focusing on a large open world, Marvel’s Wolverine is built around a more concentrated adventure with greater emphasis on close combat, stealth, and cinematic storytelling.

Players will take control of Logan as he travels through locations including Madripoor. The game will feature explorable areas and hubs while maintaining a more focused structure than Insomniac's previous superhero titles.

The game's combat is also expected to lean heavily into Wolverine's signature abilities, with violent melee encounters designed around his claws, regeneration, and physical strength.

The Gold announcement comes shortly after Insomniac highlighted the game's Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes additional costumes alongside other bonuses. The studio is expected to provide more information about the game as the September launch approaches.
