Fortnite has just confirmed its next season!
Fortnite's next season is officially called Override, and everything points to gaming's biggest icons taking over the island.

Fortnite has officially revealed the name of its next season, and the announcement appears to confirm that the game's next major chapter will lean heavily into video game crossovers.

Chapter 7 Season 4 will be called "Override," with the tagline "Break the rules. Change the game." The new season is scheduled to begin on August 20 following the end of the current season and its upcoming story event.

Rumors surrounding the season have been building for weeks, with several clues pointing toward a Gaming Legends theme. When Fortnite update v41.30 launched, data miners discovered encrypted posters referencing major video game franchises including Mega Man, Pac-Man, Tetris, and Sonic the Hedgehog.

Another clue appeared at Wonkeeland, where players briefly heard Pac-Man's iconic intro music. Although the audio has since been disabled, it gave fans even more reason to believe that several gaming franchises could be arriving in Fortnite.

The biggest hint came from an in-game newsfeed update that described the current season as "Override." The Spanish version instead used "Glitch," while the French translation referred to a "System Hacked" concept. Fans quickly connected the strange wording to the rumored theme for Chapter 7 Season 4.

Epic Games has now confirmed that those theories were correct. The official Fortnite account revealed the "Override" title on Wednesday, alongside the slogan about breaking the rules and changing the game.

The announcement itself features the same glitching visual effect seen in the Gem Sprite newsfeed announcement, suggesting that the new season could be directly connected to the upcoming Unstable story event. That event is expected to conclude the current season's storyline while setting the stage for what comes next.

The leaked character posters could also play an important role. They were reportedly discovered in the same game files associated with the Unstable story moment, potentially hinting that some of the teased gaming characters could appear during the transition into the new season.

Fans are already speculating about which Gaming Legends could return or make their Fortnite debut. Kratos from God of War is one of the most requested possibilities, with the iconic skin having been absent from the Item Shop since 2021. Persona is also heavily rumored, although Atlus has yet to officially confirm a Fortnite collaboration.

Kingdom Hearts could be another major addition. A recent leak pointed toward a Rocket League collaboration featuring Kingdom Hearts, and because Epic accounts can connect cosmetics between Rocket League and Fortnite, fans believe the crossover could eventually make its way into Fortnite as well.

With the "Override" theme now confirmed, players won't have to wait much longer to find out just how many of these gaming crossovers are actually coming. Chapter 7 Season 4 is scheduled to begin during the early hours of August 20 once server downtime ends.
