Don’t install the new Lenovo Legion Go BIOS update yet!
Community moderators urge Legion Go owners to avoid version N3CN42WW after reports of black screens and failed BIOS recoveries.

Lenovo Legion Go owners are reporting that the latest BIOS update (N3CN42WW) is rendering their handhelds unusable, with devices getting stuck on a black screen after installation. Despite growing complaints, the update remains available on Lenovo's support page.

The issue first gained traction on the Legion Go subreddit, where moderators are urging users to avoid installing the update while affected owners continue to report failed BIOS recovery attempts. Those still covered by warranty are reportedly receiving free repairs or replacements. However, users with expired warranties claim they've been quoted over €237 ($270) for repairs, prompting frustration since the issue appears to stem from Lenovo's own software update.

Some community members have resorted to advanced recovery methods, including direct SPI programming, while others recommend rolling back to the previous BIOS version (N3CN40WW) if possible.

Lenovo has yet to issue an official statement regarding the problem. Until then, Legion Go owners who haven't updated are advised to hold off on installing BIOS version N3CN42WW
