The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta is already receiving major updates as Infinity Ward responds to player feedback and continues improving the experience ahead of the game's October launch. While bugs and limited content are expected during a beta, the developer has been making changes throughout the test rather than waiting until launch to address the community's concerns.

The Early Access beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 began on August 21 and is running through August 25. Unlike some previous Call of Duty beta tests, Infinity Ward has packed this one with a substantial amount of content, including multiple multiplayer maps and modes alongside the Entrenched campaign mission.

The Open Beta begins on August 28 and will expand the available content even further, adding the Warzone Resurgence map Zodiac and Ground War alongside the existing multiplayer and campaign content.

Players have already provided plenty of feedback after the first day of Early Access, and Infinity Ward has been quick to respond. Rather than waiting for a future build or the game's Day 1 update, the developer has started implementing changes while the beta is still underway.

The August 22 update introduced several quality-of-life improvements, including the ability to reroll daily challenges. Infinity Ward also enabled map voting after adding a fourth map to the beta, giving players more control over which locations they play.

The update also expanded the beta's content with the addition of Cachette, a 6v6 Core map set in an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of a French railway system. A new mode called Inflation was also added, bringing the total number of available modes to 10.

Inflation tasks players with eliminating opponents and collecting the cash they drop. High-value target Operators, who are typically the players carrying the most cash, are marked during matches and drop their accumulated money when eliminated.

Players can increase their earnings further by surviving the overtime period, which activates larger cash multipliers.

Audio has also been a major point of discussion among the Modern Warfare 4 community. Footstep audio and general spatial awareness have been recurring issues across recent Call of Duty releases, and players quickly raised similar concerns during the beta.

In response, Infinity Ward has reduced the distance at which enemy footsteps and equipment sounds can be heard. The volume of these sounds has also been lowered, addressing complaints that the audio was too loud and made it difficult for players to determine where sounds were coming from.

The latest update also includes bug fixes and adjustments to the Time to Kill for weapons such as the Nightshade and Oris. However, Infinity Ward has already confirmed that another update is on the way, meaning the developer's changes to the beta are far from finished.

The upcoming update will introduce another multiplayer map called Lithium, alongside additional bug fixes, further audio adjustments, and more changes to weapons and attachments. Infinity Ward also plans to add the 3v3 Gunfight mode, giving beta players even more content to test before the game's October release.

With Infinity Ward continuing to make changes based on feedback while the beta is still active, Modern Warfare 4 could look considerably different by the time it officially launches. The remaining beta period should give the developer plenty of time to identify additional issues and make further adjustments before release.
