With Rockstar Games never producing a traditional single-player story DLC for the Western title, independent modders have stepped in to build expansive fan-made additions.

Leading the effort, mod developer Rixus (also known as Roxis724) has confirmed that Nuevo Paraiso – The Forgotten Frontier will officially release on September 16. A newly published launch trailer showcases fully realized Mexican environments alongside custom settlements, gang hideouts, treasure hunts, minigames, bounty hunting contracts, and random encounters designed to integrate seamlessly into the main game.

Highlighting the project's narrative features, players can take control of Sadie Adler as the recommended protagonist for the expansion. Given Sadie's established backstory regarding her eventual journey toward South America, setting her journey through Mexico allows the development team to expand her character arc without contradicting established franchise lore, though Arthur Morgan and John Marston remain playable alternatives.

Years of active development underpin the release, which evolved from an earlier map restoration attempt into a comprehensive thematic campaign. Development updates from January emphasize that the project incorporates historical context reflecting the social tension, political oppression, and despair in regional Mexico leading up to the Mexican Revolution of 1911.

PC players can download the full expansion for free via Nexus Mods beginning September 16. Offering a substantial fan-driven chapter south of the border, the release provides a compelling reason for community members to revisit the title.
