Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 has reportedly brought a significant increase in the number of bots appearing in Battle Royale matches, leading some players to question how the new season is affecting matchmaking.

The latest season, titled Override, launched on August 20 and introduced new content across Fortnite, including new locations, weapons, abilities, and crossover features. However, the apparent change to bot numbers has quickly become a major topic of discussion within the community.

Players have reportedly found matches containing substantially fewer human opponents than before. One reported example featured only 25 real players in a standard 100 player Battle Royale match, suggesting that the remaining participants were controlled by AI. Fortnite insider SpushFNBR has also claimed that the bot percentage may have increased from roughly 35 percent before the new season to around 75 percent afterward.

The reports have not established whether the same bot ratio is being used across every match, however. Additional testing is still being carried out by players and members of the Fortnite community, meaning the current figures should be treated as reports rather than confirmed matchmaking statistics.

The timing of the change has nevertheless attracted attention because the beginning of a new season would normally be expected to bring a large number of returning and active players. Override has already generated significant interest through its new content, including updated locations, new equipment, and a new generation of Sprites.

A higher number of bots could make matches more accessible for some players, particularly those who are returning to Fortnite or struggling against experienced opponents. At the same time, players looking for more competitive matches may view the change negatively if they encounter significantly fewer human opponents.

The reports are also likely to fuel discussion about how Fortnite handles matchmaking and how many AI players should be included in standard Battle Royale games.

Epic Games has not publicly confirmed that the bot ratio has been changed to the levels currently being reported. Until official information is provided, it remains unclear whether the increase is a deliberate adjustment, a temporary effect connected to the start of the new season, or something that varies depending on matchmaking conditions.

For now, Fortnite players will have to continue testing the new season to determine how widespread the change actually is. The reported increase in AI opponents has already become one of the most noticeable discussions surrounding Chapter 7 Season 4.
