Publisher Dotemu revealed that Marvel Cosmic Invasion will receive another premium expansion later this year. Titled The Siege of Castle Doom, the upcoming content drop features two new playable characters and an original game mode centered around the iconic villain Doctor Doom.

Developed by Tribute Games, the studio behind Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge and Scott Pilgrim EX, the superhero beat-em-up enjoyed a strong critical reception upon its December 2025 launch. The game holds an 81 Top Critic Average on OpenCritic. 

Official details regarding the expansion remain sparse, though Dotemu confirmed a few core highlights. Alongside the two unannounced playable fighters, The Siege of Castle Doom introduces a dedicated Doctor Doom game mode, though specific mechanics remain under wraps. The DLC is scheduled to launch in Fall 2026 simultaneously across PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S.

Pricing details for the new content pack have not been finalized by the publisher. The game's inaugural DLC arrived in May for $3.99, bringing Cyclops and The Thing to the roster. Given that the upcoming expansion includes a full game mode alongside new characters, the pack may carry a slightly higher price point.

Popularity surrounding the ruler of Latveria continues to soar across pop culture ahead of his major cinematic milestone. Doctor Doom will make his official Marvel Cinematic Universe debut on December 18 in Avengers: Doomsday, a project generating steady fan anticipation through a series of trailer releases highlighting returning fan-favorite actors.

Beyond his roster appearance in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, Doctor Doom and his 2099 variant drive central narrative arcs in Marvel Rivals, where rumors suggest he may eventually join the active hero lineup.
