Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced getting major updates!
Ubisoft’s latest update fixes dozens of bugs while adding useful improvements and bringing back a popular customization feature.

Ubisoft has released the patch notes for Title Update 1.06 for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, bringing a large number of bug fixes and several useful quality-of-life improvements to the remake. The update arrives on August 4, with Ubisoft publishing the full notes a day early so players could see what was coming.

Black Flag Resynced has been well received by players who wanted to return to one of the most popular entries in the Assassin’s Creed series. While the remake is based on the original Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Ubisoft has rebuilt the game using its newer Anvil Engine rather than simply updating the old version.

According to game director Richard Knight, the development team was unable to reuse the original game's code because of how different the new engine is. Instead, the developers had to rebuild much of the game from the ground up, using the original assets mainly as references.

That large-scale rebuild has also meant dealing with its share of technical problems, and Title Update 1.06 focuses heavily on cleaning those up.

One of the more noticeable additions is a new option to hide Edward's blowpipe. Players can now go into the outfit section of the inventory and choose to hide or show the weapon on Edward's back. It is a small change, but one that gives players more control over how their character looks while wearing different outfits.

The update also increases the number of autosaves from five to ten. This gives players more earlier save points to return to if something goes wrong or they want to revisit a previous part of their adventure.

Several crash-related issues have also been addressed. Ubisoft has fixed minor crashes that could happen during ground and naval combat, along with other problems that could cause unexpected issues during gameplay. PC players are also getting a fix for cutscenes that could become locked at 30 frames per second when using certain custom graphics settings.

The patch covers a wide range of gameplay problems as well. Issues involving rope darts, assassinations, enemy behavior, naval combat and parkour have all been addressed. For example, some players could previously lose access to the quick-use rope dart after being interrupted by an enemy, while enemy ships could sometimes fail to damage the Jackdaw when ramming it from certain angles.

Navigation and exploration have also received attention. Ubisoft fixed several situations where Edward could become stuck while climbing or parkouring, including one problem in Kingston involving a tree and wall. Another issue that could allow players to fast travel to an unsynchronized viewpoint in Havana has also been resolved.

There are plenty of smaller visual and interface fixes as well. The update corrects animation, camera, lighting and ragdoll problems, while also addressing visual glitches such as clipping and gaps in certain locations. Underwater lighting and some tavern fight animations have also been improved.

Interestingly, one of the fixes addresses a feature that players had been particularly unhappy about losing. The ability to toggle Edward's hood during the Leap of Faith had stopped working for some players following an earlier update. Title Update 1.06 restores that functionality.

The patch also contains fixes for several quests, including problems that could leave characters stuck, remove objectives or prevent certain rewards from being obtained. Ubisoft has also fixed issues involving Mayan Armor, the Morgan's Treasures quest and several other missions.

The update is fairly large depending on the platform. Xbox Series X/S players will need around 15.2 GB, while the PS5 version is approximately 5.03 GB. PC players need about 3.7 GB, with the Steam version requiring roughly 1.8 GB.

Overall, Title Update 1.06 is less about adding major new content and more about making Black Flag Resynced a smoother and more reliable experience. With dozens of fixes across gameplay, visuals, quests, audio and performance, it should be a welcome update for players continuing Edward Kenway's pirate adventure.
