Pokemon TCG Live players have a new chance to pick up some free cards and a booster pack without spending anything. The digital version of the Pokemon Trading Card Game has launched a special redemption code tied to the latest expansion, Pitch Black. However, players will need to claim the rewards soon, as the code will only be available for a limited time.

The giveaway comes as Pitch Black reaches the halfway point in its release cycle. The expansion has added plenty of new cards to Pokemon TCG Live, giving players new options for building decks and collecting cards.

Pokemon fans have several ways to enjoy the trading card game digitally. Pokemon TCG Pocket, which launched in late 2024, became extremely popular by offering a simpler version of the card game along with free daily packs. Pokemon TCG Live takes a different approach, acting more like a digital version of the physical Pokemon TCG. It uses the same cards and expansions while allowing players to battle others online.

Now, Pokemon TCG Live players can use the code ENDLESSNIGHT26 to receive three rewards. The code unlocks Ultra Rare full-art versions of Mega Zeraora ex and Mega Excadrill ex, along with one free Pitch Black booster pack.

Players can enter the code through the in-game shop to receive the rewards. There is a deadline, though. The promotion will end on September 16 at 10:00 a.m. PDT, so players who want the free cards should make sure to redeem the code before then.

Both of the free Pokemon can also be useful in battles. Mega Zeraora ex can deal heavy damage once it has enough Lightning Energy attached. Its Thunderous Fist attack gains an additional 60 damage for every Lightning Energy attached to it, giving the Pokemon the potential to hit extremely hard when properly prepared.

Mega Excadrill ex is another strong attacker. Its Maximum Drilling attack can deal 330 damage when two additional Energy cards are attached to the Pokemon, on top of the three Metal Energy needed to use the attack in the first place.

Players using Steel-focused decks have several options for getting Energy into play quickly. Cards such as Metang and Steven's Metagross ex can help move Energy from the deck, making it easier to prepare Mega Excadrill for a powerful attack.

The free Pitch Black pack could also be valuable for collectors. Since players receive a random booster, there is always a chance of finding one of the expansion's rarer cards. The set includes six Special Illustration Rare cards, featuring Pokemon such as Mega Chandelure and Mega Zeraora, along with a new card featuring the popular Morpeko.

Pitch Black also introduces five new Supporter cards. These include new characters from Pokemon Legends: Z-A, such as Gwynn and Jett, as well as returning characters including Misty and Gladion.

While Pitch Black is currently the focus, Pokemon TCG fans do not have to wait long for another major expansion. The next big release is 30th Celebration, which is expected to arrive in early September as part of the Pokemon franchise's 30th anniversary celebrations.

The expansion will celebrate the history of the Pokemon Trading Card Game by bringing back some well-known cards from the past. It will also introduce a brand-new card rarity called Futuristic Rare, with Mewtwo and Mew receiving special versions in this style.

With more major releases planned, 2026 is shaping up to be a busy year for Pokemon TCG players. For now, though, the Pitch Black giveaway is an easy opportunity to add two powerful full-art cards and a free booster pack to a Pokemon TCG Live collection.
