Now you can play Halo Campaign Evolved in split screen!
A community mod by Jpurd unlocks hidden PC split-screen co-op for Halo: Campaign Evolved, allowing two controller players to team up locally on Steam.
Halo: Campaign Evolved recently launched across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 5, bringing cross platform play to the franchise for the first time. While console players enjoyed local split screen co-op out of the box, the PC version launched without access to the feature. Now, a community mod has stepped in to unlock local play for PC users.
Created by a modder named Jpurd and posted on Nexus Mods, the new modification enables local split screen co-op on PC. According to the creator, the code for split screen was already present inside the PC build of the game, meaning the mod simply unlocks an existing hidden setting rather than adding brand new systems.
While the mod successfully brings split screen to PC, it comes with a few specific restrictions:Two player limit: The mod only supports two players on one screen, even though the main game allows up to four players in online co-op.
Controller requirement: Both players must use game controllers to play together on the same system.Platform limits: The mod is primarily designed for Steam users and may not function for players using PC Game Pass or the Microsoft Store.
The arrival of the mod follows a rocky launch week for the title. Xbox players who purchased early access editions were briefly unable to log in alongside PC and PlayStation 5 users. Early confusion also spread regarding whether console players needed a paid subscription service for local split screen, though developers quickly confirmed that no paid online subscription is required for local play.
