IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios have announced that 007 First Light has surpassed 4 million units sold during its first three months on the market, making it one of the fastest selling premium games released in 2026.

The milestone highlights the strong commercial performance of IO Interactive's original James Bond adventure and reflects the positive reception surrounding the studio's attempt to create a new interpretation of the iconic spy franchise.

The game's success is particularly notable with a Nintendo Switch 2 release still planned for later this year. With another platform yet to receive the game, additional sales growth could potentially be generated once the new version becomes available.

The performance of 007 First Light also strengthens IO Interactive's position as the studio continues expanding its work beyond the Hitman franchise. The game's success had reportedly raised questions about whether Amazon MGM Studios would allow the developer to continue with another James Bond project, although later comments indicated that IO Interactive is expected to remain involved with the franchise.

Support for 007 First Light is also set to continue throughout its first year. IO Interactive has prepared a roadmap featuring regular Tactical Simulation updates that will introduce new challenges across locations including Kensington's Workshop, the mountains of Slovakia, the Mauritanian black market, and the Pearl resort in Vietnam.

Additional story elements will also be introduced through these updates. Players will investigate new information surrounding Webb Industries and a mysterious piece of technology that could eventually become one of Bond's most dangerous threats.

Another mission will be built around an unexpected partnership between MI6 and Pirate King Bawma following the events in Mauritania, giving Bond another dangerous assignment to complete.

Throughout the first year of support, players can also expect new gadgets, weapons, cosmetics, leaderboard challenges, and additional gameplay scenarios. New Game Plus is also being considered as a potential addition to improve campaign replayability.

PC players are also still waiting for the game's promised path tracing update. The graphical upgrade is being developed in partnership with NVIDIA, although its release was previously delayed.

With 4 million units already sold and additional content on the way, 007 First Light has established a strong start for IO Interactive's new James Bond series and could provide the foundation for future entries in the franchise.
