The restriction targets the four piece set bonus for the Cyberserpent Null armor, an item set earned through the Gambit game mode. The specific perk, called Bountiful Munitions, allowed players to spawn infinite amounts of special ammunition inside competitive match modes.
Key details regarding the restriction include:Targeted modes: The perk is disabled across all Crucible playlists, including the Iron Banner event.Two piece bonus remains: The two piece Adrenal Rush bonus, which boosts weapon reload speed and weapon handling after sprinting, remains functional.
Player versus environment unaffected: The four piece set perk will continue to work normally in player versus environment content.Because Bungie laid off much of its active development team following the releases of Edge of Fate and Renegades, the studio lacks the resources needed to fully rewrite broken code. Instead of patching software issues, developers are opting to permanently shut down problematic perks and items.
The lack of active maintenance also means that helpful player glitches will remain unpatched. For example, players can currently use automated combat setups to farm dungeon bosses in Sundered Doctrine without fear of future balance changes.This permanent disable follows a series of recent restrictions across the game. Earlier this month, armor sets from the Grasp of Avarice and Duality dungeons were pulled from player versus player modes. The exotic trace rifle Divinity was also disabled in specific encounters after players used it to skip fight mechanics entirely.
Adding to the game's declining community activity, longtime content creator Datto announced his retirement from covering the game. His YouTube channel will post its final video in August as he shifts focus to other titles.
