Instead of entering these games, players are met with a message stating: "This feature is not available for you."
Following the reports, GTA Online dataminer Tex2 uncovered code confirming a territory-based restriction covering Casino House games, Three Card Poker, Inside Track, the Lucky Wheel, Blackjack, Roulette, and Slots.
The change is surprising because simulated gambling has long been legal in Australia, provided games carry an R18+ classification—a requirement GTA Online has always met. Players purchase Casino Chips using GTA$, the game's virtual currency, which can either be earned through gameplay or indirectly funded by purchasing Shark Cash Cards with real money.
Crucially, winnings from the Diamond Casino cannot be exchanged for real-world currency. While players can spend money to acquire in-game currency used for simulated gambling, they cannot legally cash out any winnings under Rockstar's terms of service.
That means GTA Online's casino mechanics have generally been considered compliant with Australian regulations. However, the restriction arrives as the federal government continues to tighten its approach to online gambling harms, raising the possibility that Rockstar has introduced the block as a precautionary measure.
