The biggest succes of the year already, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced!
Ubisoft says Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has already exceeded internal sales expectations just two weeks after its blockbuster launch.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is off to an impressive start, with Ubisoft confirming that the remake has already exceeded its internal sales expectations just two weeks after launch.

The publisher previously announced that Black Flag Resynced sold 2 million copies within its first 24 hours, making it one of the franchise's strongest launches in recent years. In Ubisoft's latest financial report, CEO Yves Guillemot revealed that the game's momentum has continued.

"Two weeks in, the title has already exceeded the annual expectations we had," Guillemot said, adding that the remake's strong performance has been an encouraging result for the company.

Guillemot also praised the development team behind the project, calling Black Flag Resynced "the highest-rated Assassin's Creed title since the original Black Flag." He thanked the developers for their work, saying he was "very pleased" with the positive reception from players.

The remake's commercial success comes despite a mixed critical response. While many players have praised the visual upgrades and modernized presentation, others have criticized the inclusion of day-one DLC, an in-game store, and changes to the original game's combat. Even so, the enduring popularity of 2013's Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag appears to have helped drive strong sales.

Ubisoft's celebration of the game's success also arrives shortly after another round of layoffs at the company. Just weeks before the financial update, Ubisoft cut jobs across several studios, including Ubisoft Barcelona, where nearly a third of the workforce was reportedly affected. The layoffs sparked a labor strike at the studio.

Ubisoft Barcelona contributed to the development of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, with gameplay and technical animator Manel Cota previously stating that the studio was responsible for creating the remake's underwater sequences. The contrast between the game's commercial success and the recent job cuts has drawn attention from fans, particularly as Ubisoft publicly thanked the teams that helped bring the project to life.

With sales already outperforming Ubisoft's projections, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has quickly become one of the publisher's biggest success stories of the year, even as questions remain about the company's broader restructuring efforts.
