GOTTA GO FAST!

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds brings motion into the ocean. From your first Grand Prix, it is quite clear that this is not your
vanilla kart racer.
Racetracks open portals into new worlds mid-race, Avengers: Endgame style,
with magic portals, cars turn into
planes and boats, the game is
like a doctor withholding meds
from a patient.

CrossWorlds is not just fun, but also deep with its customization reaching almost Forza levels, races branch off different directions and learning a track as you might in normal racing games gets thrown out the window when tracks
drift as much as your wheels.

The game asks you to become a speed
master, not just the car,
master the tracks.

If you gotta go fast, will you go fast?

Performance

Feel the Need for speed!

CrossWorlds does not make you feel like you are Lightning McQueen, but it does give you  casual racing entertainment. Drifting feels natural, and boosts can
be gained from doing air tricks, drifts,
and driving along the boost arrows
on the floor.

Races feel alive going through worlds, driving your kart through dinosaurs, dolphin jumping your racing boat,
and flying your plane through
rocky valleys.

The game can at times feel unforgiving
if you hit a wall or mistime your drifts.
The punishment can feel harsher
early on, especially when you are
still learning how the karts
and characters play together.

CrossWorlds rewards clean driving,
but it does not always communicate
its expectations clearly when
the driving is not as clean.

SYSTEMS

Customization is where the game rises and shines, differentiating itself from competitor racers. Gadget Plates, parts, character stats let you change
and shape the way that you race.

Some item pick-ups feel stronger than others, and that could either bring you
a big boost in the race or be a big boon.

The different modes like Race Park
and Rivals, add a bit more colour to
the game.

Rivals are opponents chosen each Grand Prix that adds just a bit more structured challenge to the game.

A F(e)ast for the Eyes!

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds brings lots of colour to kart racing. Tracks can go from familiar Sonic worlds to the most unexpected crossovers. There is a lot happening which keeps everything fresh out of the oven.

Character and vehicle designs are visually strong, even with characters like Hatsune Miku included in the mix.

The theme song is a national anthem, leaving you humming after every session, especially when choosing different characters changes the vibe of the theme song.

The tracks keep energy high with
the jukebox letting you choose your own vibe.

The score understands what is needed from a Sonic Racing game that asks you to go fast and plays as if your life depended on it.

Chaos Without Collapse!

The game runs well on PC, with short load times, even if gaming on a potato.
It does not have to juggle much maybe only when transitioning between worlds during races. Even then the transitions do not come with any noticeable stutter.
The game does not fight your hardware, so it keeps performance from becoming a distraction in already busy races.

Online performance may be a bit more mixed; matches can connect quickly
and run fine, but lobbies and options
feel a tad basic.

Fast, Messy, Memorable!

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is upbeat, energetic, creative, and just plain good clean fun. The changing of worlds and systems means you
are always on your toes in every
race, in every gameplay session,
and you will not be in a routine.
Those who enjoy adapting changes and dynamic races, this can be
an incredibly satisfying experience.

For others, it may be stimulating rather than exhilarating. The racing is solid, the customization is meaningful, and the presentation is super energetic.

CrossWorlds is never boring and that counts for a lot in a genre that could sometimes mean pedal to the metal, floor it and cross the checkered line.

It does not ask you whether you are ready to go fast; it asks whether
you are ready to keep up.
