The characters in the game are quirky, to say the least. But that is why a lot of people love it, that unique style of Hideo Kojima.
This might be a revival attempt
Metal Gear Solid is one of the most renowned franchises in video game history. Standing out for its zany plots and characters, unique products of Hideo Kojima’s talent. Konami seems to be aiming for a revival of the series with this remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 from 2004
But this remake might not be so decisive. It feels like a product of dedication and passion. However, it might need more than that. Metal Gear Solid Delta is a faithful remake of MGS 3, released 21 years after the original.

CAN A MORE FAITHFUL REMAKE EXIST
A lot of the game is spent in cutscenes. The story is front and center in MGS Delta. Much of the story is told through over the top, peculiar, sometimes almost cartoonishly goofy, cutscenes.
MGS Delta is basically a one to one remake of the original MGS 3. Almost everything is exactly the same. You play as an operative spy during the Cold War, in a kind of alternate history that is based around historical events.

Spies and almost a history lesson
Now it looks like how you thought it looked in your head
And for some players, that will make it feel off. As one, it is not going to look like what they remember. And two, whatever artistic narrative was portrayed by the limitations of the old graphical style is now gone.
It is still good enough for old fans who want an excuse to return to the game.
For someone who has played the original MGS 3, MGS Delta will feel very nostalgic but with a fresh coat of paint. Delta is a very safe and faithful remake of the original. They changed nothing in the story or much of the game itself.
There are substantial quality of life improvements, and modernization of controls. But other than that, it will feel like the same exact game but with modern graphics.

A piece of video game history repainted for you
Players that will be playing MGS Delta as their first MGS game, will have a very different experience from returning players. The reason for that being that the game feels old. Yes, it is significantly graphically improved, with many quality of life improvements, and improved controls.

But at its core it is still the same game from 2004. The controls just have that clunkiness of an older game to them, underlying the modernization done. The level design is also literally that of a game from 2004.

That does not make the game bad by any means. For some, it is actually a positive, as it allows that nostalgic sense without the cumbersomeness associated with dated controls. But if you are not familiar with the old game, it might end up feeling very dated.

Too safe for too much
MGS Delta presents itself as a safe one to one remake that received a fresh coat of paint, and quality of life improvements. That makes it a good choice for returning players that do not mind what was lost in atmosphere, and art style to modern graphics.
And an easier to adopt version of an old beloved game for new fans who want to experience it. But the game fails to do enough to justify the USD 70 price tag on it.
