EA Introduces Subscription Tier To Unlock Main Menu
Players must now pay a monthly fee simply to press the "Start Game" button.
The groundbreaking "Menu Pass" promises an ad-free experience before you even launch the game.

In a bold move that has redefined the boundaries of modern gaming monetization, Electronic Arts has proudly unveiled the "Menu Pass Plus," a mandatory subscription service required to access the title screens of all future releases. For just $14.99 a month, premium players can finally bypass the three unskippable promotional videos and legally press the “Start Game” button. Those who opt out of the subscription will be forced to solve a series of complex calculus problems while watching an unskippable ad for digital sneakers.

Defending the controversial decision, an EA spokesperson stated that title screens have become too expensive to produce and maintain for free. They argued that the glowing fonts, ambient background music, and meticulously animated logos require massive server upkeep that the average player simply takes for granted. By locking the main menu behind a paywall, the company promises to deliver unprecedented font rendering and a truly cinematic button-pressing experience.

The gaming community reacted with predictable outrage, setting fire to digital forums and signing countless petitions that will inevitably be ignored. Despite the massive public backlash, preliminary sales data indicates that millions of gamers have already pre-purchased the annual tier just to see if the new start button is actually shinier. Analysts predict that by 2028, players will need a microtransaction just to successfully pause the game to use the restroom.
