GAMING'S MOSTLOVED FEMALE FIGURES PT2
In the early days, most female figures in any form of media were often portrayed as characters who were the damsel in distress, and games were no different.
But lucky for us we evolve and so does the media around us.
Following our first part on this deep topic, we highlighted that the list in Part 1 could not possibly do justice to these influential figures. So the only logical response to this is to make a second part to shine a light on more beloved female gaming
figures. Follow us on this extended DLC on trying to appreciate gaming’s most beloved females.

Aloy: Horizon
Aloy’s story begins as an outcast trying to find herself and prove to her people and everyone playing that nothing has
to be the way that it is.
You first take control of her as a kid who goes off alone, wandering around
a cave. highlighting her bravery
and curiosity from the second you
start playing.
And that bravery does not fade with age. The more you play, the more she matures into a capable woman with
an important purpose and a reason to
keep going.
From no one to someone
The reason players resonated with Aloy is because the journey she embarks on is a journey of self-discovery. She is not just fighting for her survival. She is fighting for the truth.
At her core, she represents the universal human desire to belong. All of us at some point felt like we were the odd ones out. But unlike us, Aloy’s isolation was systemic.

Watching her evolve from a child who was avoided like the plague to the person everyone relies on is a twist of fate we all wish for.
But even if we were to put all that aside, she does not disappoint. Her badassery alone, while taking down Machines 10x her size with ease, puts her in the heart of every action yearning gamer.
Kassandra: Assassin's Creed Odyssey
If you were to take charisma and shape it into a person, it would be Kassandra of Sparta. While players had the choice of her or her sibling as the protagonist, everyone knew she was the favorite.
She brings just the right amount of Greek mercenary vibe and “I have seen too many cultists” wit. She is actually funny yet terrifying, which is the perfect formula for a lovable charater.

The one behind the mask
Kassandra is one of those figures who are brought to life by their voice actors. Talking about Kassandra without talking about Melissanthi Mahut is a crime in every sense of the word.
Mahut is the genius behind the contrast of Kassandra. She gives the character
the “I’m the smartest person in the room, but I can not be bothered to explain why” energy.
It is that subtle and playful sarcasm that makes the player feel like they are in on
a joke with her. Because of that charm,
a 100-hour grind turns into a story
the players never want to end

Commander Shepard: Mass Effect
Mass Effect, as a game trilogy, is the best to have ever existed. A major reason why is their protagonist. Players get the option to choose the gender of Commander Shepard at the start of every game.
Where in most games this option doesn’t carry that much weight, in this game it is an entirely different thrilling experience. While the male commander is your usual brute,
Femshep elevates the Mass Effect story experience to a whole new level.
