OG Nintendo!
With a history of over 135 years, Nintendo Co. is considered the oldest gaming company. Originally from Japan, Nintendo was founded
in 1889 to sell cards and toys, but switched
to arcade games in the 1980s and later on
to video game consoles.
Considered one of the most important companies in the gaming industry,
games like Donkey Kong, Super Mario,
and The Legend of Zelda are a part of Nintendo’s legacy.

Lucky coincidences do exist!

Did you know that Nintendo, the creators of Donkey Kong, one of the most iconic video games in history, had a different idea at
the time of its creation? Donkey Kong was originally going to be a game inspired by Popeye, the spinach-eating sailor, with
Bluto as Donkey Kong and Popeye as JumpMan.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, they could not acquire the licensing rights and ended up creating Donkey Kong instead. The story
does not end here, plot twists ahead!
Super Mario... the landlord?
When the Donkey Kong video game reached America, it gained even more fans. Nintendo decided to turn JumpMan into a new character and create a game based on him. They borrowed the name from their company warehouse landlord, Mario Segale, and Super Mario was born. It would soon become the name of the most beloved plumber in the world. Donkey Kong and Super Mario were immediate successes upon their releases and remain among the most played and loved games to this day.
