The origins of esports can be traced to around 1970, when the home gaming consoles started to appear. With the release of the game Space Invaders, thousands of people started to gather for the first tournaments. As new games were created and gained popularity, they would also bring crowds together for tournaments. Games such as Donkey Kong

and Mortal Kombat. The 2000s were the time for esports to grow and start having amazing events with professional competitive gaming that now gathered tens of thousands of people. The Electronic Sports World Cup
and the World Cyber Games started
hosting the events and attracting
more people. MLG was launched

n 2002. Today, Major League Gaming is one of the world’s most prominent hosts in esports. In 2006, the first tournaments that were broadcast online started with success.
In 2011, with the introduction of Twitch, 
where the viewers could interact with
other players, Esports became
as popular as it is today.

Esports events are more than just watching professional gamers play. The arena is filled with commentators, teams walking around, people in cosplay, previews of games that will be launched soon, and merchandise stands. Each space has something different to offer.
